Families create light up digital art at Mary C. Firefly Event

Fat Tuesday may be over, but that doesn’t mean the Mardi Gras festivities have to end.

The Mary C. O’Keefe Cultural Arts Center hosted their bi-monthly Firefly event, this month’s theme is Mardi Gras.

Decorating masks in purple, green, and gold, guests got to customize their own mask, creating digital art with LED lights.

The event also had live jazz music played by Dave Jones and king cake cheesecake from ‘Food, Booze, and Hiccups.’ Mary C. Arts and Culture Coordinator Sarah Qarqish said, “Having a lowkey event, trying to wind down from Mardi Gras, we still have our beautiful Mardi Gras tree up, we have to take it down after today. So, we’re out here in the courtyard for our Firefly and we have it Mardi Gras themed because there’s a lot of craft and arts projects we could come up with for this and at Firefly we also always try to have a digital arts aspect.”

The Mary C. is working to improve their courtyard to make it an outdoor space for more events.
